No Electricity

Last Sunday, the electricity went out. I was just starting to prepare dinner when everything went black. Luckily we have a gas stove so dinner wasn't a total loss. However, preparing a meal by the glow of a little blue flame was a bit challenging.

We've had some really bad thunderstorms lately. Surprisingly we never lost power through any of the storms. But give us one perfectly clear night, and naturally the electricity would go out.

Hugo went down to the little neighborhood store to buy a candle. He said there was a huge line of people who all wanted to buy candles. Luckily Hugo was able to buy the last one the store had. The entire night was a bit of a challenge. I had to carry the little candle around with me all night. If our bathroom wasn't spooky enough before (spiders and whatnot), it was terrifying to be in there with only a tiny flame of light.

About two hours after the electricity went out, it magically came back on. A huge cheer rippled througout the neighbrohood. On the news the next day, there was a story about how the entire country lost power. And not only was El Salvador dark, but Honduras and Guatemala lost electricty too!
